What causes diabetes is a question that has been asked time and time again. While there are some theories, the exact cause of diabetes is not known. It is one of those diseases that could be genetic or could be influenced by your environment, or it could be that people have a genetic code that is more prone to diabetes and poor lifestyle habits can trigger diabetes.
Either way there are two major types of diabetes, Type 1 Diabetes and Type 2. Each type of diabetes is believed to be caused by different factors. With Type 1 diabetes, which is normally diagnosed extremely early in an individual’s life is thought to be a genetically inherited disorder. If the mother and father both carry a recessive gene that causes a lack of insulin production there is a one in four chance that their child will wind up having Type 1 Diabetes. It is important to note that this is only a logical theory and there is no strong evidence to support this idea or theory.
Type 2 Diabetes is usually diagnosed as an adult and sometimes people who are diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes tend to be overweight or obese. However, my dad is a Type 2 diabetic and he has always been skinny as a leaf. Diabetes runs in our family!
If you get Type 2 Diabetes because you are overweight there is a reason behind it. A lot of the cause of getting diabetes in the first place comes from your diet. Giving your body too much sugars or carbohydrates overworks the body’s pancreas and somehow diabetes happens.
You know what? In the above case if you control your eating habits and lose weight, guess what sometimes happens? Diabetes goes away! Now it all depends at what point they caught your diabetes at but this sure helps defeat it!
My father is extremely skinny and he has type 2 Diabetes. His sugar is totally under control and it’s like he doesn’t even have it! He had to make a lot of adjustments in what he ate. He was eating too much sugars and now he’s totally under control.
So while what causes diabetes seems to be a difficult question to directly answer there are many logical theories out there and some research to back these theories as well.
